Inception Incoming

Readers,

Mere hours from now, Christopher Nolan's Inception will open nationwide. If you have been following Mr. Keeley and me long enough, you'll know that we've been ceaselessly anticipating the film for a year now. I could joke, as I have in past editor's notes, but I have not a single drop of insincerity to share on this topic; I'm shitting myself with excitement.

Mr. Keeley had enough foresight to prepare a Christopher Nolan retrospective over the past months, and it serves as a great warm-up for tomorrow's debut. Nolan's career thus far has been fascinating and varied, yet Inception looks like it brings things full circle. It is the most conspicuous melding yet of his undying fascination with fractured, psychological storylines and his recent assent to mega-budget summer blockbusters. So, take part in Mr. Keeley's look back. It will only deepen your appreciation of Nolan's latest.

A Modest Proposal

As you surely know, Mr. Keeley and I are feverishly preparing for the release of Marmaduke. In these final days before the marvelous occasion, we feel that we must redouble our efforts. After all, intense study of 54 years worth of daily cartoons is quite time consuming. The delicate lines of the illustrations, the writing's subtle critique of dog-human relations, and all of Marmaduke's unique complexities demand hours of contemplation.

Frankly, we at Me and Matt on Media know our place; with the film event of the year happening in mere days, we do not expect many of you to make the time to read our blog. So, we are taking the week off – humbly stepping aside in honor of this landmark cultural moment.

In lieu of our thoughts, we invite you to share your own. What are you doing to prepare? What does the film mean to you? How has the franchise brought you closer to your own canine companion? Hopefully, your input will allow this blog to become a community of sorts for Marmaduke lovers, and we will be able to embark on this experience together.

Regular posts will resume this weekend with Mr. Keeley's initial reaction to the film – the first in a twelve-part series that will meticulously deconstruct it. Until then, the floor is yours.

Do Not Panic, Dear Readers

Mr. Keeley and I are taking off this week for the holidays. Rest assured, however, that we will be back next week. In fact, we will return with a special, two-post feature on the Nintendo Wii. (You know; it is that video game console that grandma and grandpa are always playing in Wal-Mart commercials.) We will discuss the system's successes and failures three years on, as well its effect on the "casual gamers" it so openly pursues.

Until then, I wish you and yours the happiest of nondenominational winter tidings.

Reboot

Me and Matt on Media has been your one-stop source for entertainment media criticism for months now, but we have realized that we are not reaching the same audience we had hoped. To help this wonderful blog grow, we have brought in a new writer: my good friend, Matt Keeley. He will provide what I consider to be a fresh viewpoint that is much more in tune with what the hip, modern, tech-savvy, 18-24 year old male wants to hear about. He will be reporting on topics that we believe you, our readers, truly care about, such as sports, drinking games and celebrity nipple slips.

Faithful readers, however, need not fear! These topics will be tackled with the same critical, dry wit that you have come love. I can assure you that MaMoM will only become bigger and better with the addition of Matt to our team. So, I invite you all to welcome him and embrace the next incarnation of this wonderful blog.
